Installation Manager – Structural & Architectural Steelwork Division

Department: Structural & Architectural Steelwork

Main Location: Braintree

Reports to: Structural & Architectural Steelworks Director

Direct Reports: Site Teams

The Main Purpose of the Job:

To ensure site installation works are actively managed to allow safe delivery to customers on time, to the agreed quality and within budget with accurate updates and variations identified.


Duties Include:

  • To ensure materials/products that arrive on site are correct and are fit for purpose.
  • Create and monitor site specific method statements and risk assessments and ensure site teams are appraised.
  • Hold site induction meetings and regular safety updates through a matrix of Toolbox Talks with teams and undertake regular site audits.
  • Ensure all site teams comply with the Company Policies and Health, Safety and Environmental legislative requirements. Ensure client specific procedures are implemented at site level.
  • Record and monitor accidents/incidents and near-misses and report them in line with the Company procedures and policies.
  • Attend site meetings and manage day to day issues on site including general information, materials, plant, equipment, non-conformities and labour requirements.
  • Monitor and keep Project Managers informed of planned vs actual hours, downtime, non-productive and re-work hours.
  • To ensure site programmes are adhered to and the project office updated with all requirements and changes.
  • Confirm the accuracy of timesheets from site teams and subcontractors.
  • Confirm the quality of the installation on site with acceptance of all works evidenced by ‘as built’ photographs, sign off on the handover sheet prior to sign off by the Client, as required.
  • Manage and provide information relating to variations and additional works to the Project Managers to allow their costing and agreement.
  • Monitor installation processes and operate a system of continual improvement.
  • Commercial awareness to be always demonstrated.
  • Other duties appropriate to the level of this role.

Qualifications:

  • SMSTS Certificate (to be attained if not already held).
  • CSCS Card.
  • Full Driving Licence.
  • Customer relationship management.
  • Communication with other teams and management.
  • Achieving programme targets.
  • Commercial Awareness.
  • Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Management.
