Swann Engineering Group is delighted to have collaborated with Alliance Manchester Business School, for a live consultancy project focusing on improving the efficiency of our day-to-day internal information flow practices.
Our own personnel worked alongside a team of five post-graduate MBA students, with the aim of further developing the effectiveness and efficiency of our information management processes.
Mentored by our Business Development Director, alongside their experienced academic supervisor, the participating students provided us with consultation on a real-life business scenario which has the potential to further streamline our telecoms business.
Spanning 6 weeks in total and culminating in a presentation by the students to our senior management team, this project complimented the students’ own live studies and contributed to their MBA portfolio.
Following a successful presentation by the students that took place at our manufacturing headquarters in Braintree, Essex, the students were given a guided tour around our facility to provide them with a greater understanding of the intricacies of our onsite business operations.
This is the second project Swann has commissioned with the Alliance Manchester Business School. Our Business Development Director and Alliance Manchester Business School Alumnus, Mike Morris commented:
“This was a fantastic and mutually beneficial project for both parties. We are constantly looking to streamline our internal methods and processes here at Swann and welcome the opportunity to provide graduates with actionable, real-life projects to further their own development as business professionals. Well done and thank you to everyone involved for your professionalism and insight.”
Jeff Carlton, Swann Engineering Group’s Managing Director, observed:
“Working with enthusiastic students who are eager to learn is always a refreshing exercise and has provided a fresh international perspective on a number of internal processes. This is the second time we have collaborated with the Alliance Manchester Business School and have found that both occasions have been very valuable and worthwhile exercises.”
Oluwafikayomi Agbola, one of the participating students within the student group, highlighted the following:
“We were stunned by how much learning-by-doing we did as we unravelled different layers of the project. It was a remarkable experience working together, with Mike Morris and our supervisor. It was a short window so, having a hands-on business development leader who had a clear understanding of Swann’s expectations made the project very fast-paced and challenging, yet easy to navigate.
Phil Galvin, Associate Director & MBA Consultant at the Alliance Manchester Business School, commented:
“I am always delighted when our MBA Consultancy groups provide actionable recommendations and also when our Alumni return as clients. Everyone wins!”
