The Structural & Architectural Division of Swann Engineering Group has successfully designed, manufactured, and installed a bespoke metalwork package worth over £1M, for a brand-new residential complex in Harlow, Essex.
The first phase of this new development, consisting of 7 apartment blocks and over 250 terraced and semi-detached houses, was a challenging but fulfilling project to be involved in that showcases our design and fabrication capabilities.
A large portion of the structural steelwork elements required for this project included the design, fabrication, and deployment of 30 bespoke Stack and Corner balconies, integrated across the 3 and 4 storey apartment blocks. Additional Juliette balconies were also installed throughout the development.
Each structural steel element that has been implemented for this project was hot-dip galvanised and received a powder coat finish. Careful design consideration was also given to ensure that balconies can accommodate glass infill panels where required, providing the elegant finishing touch to the outside aesthetic.
This development also features structural steel carports, that accommodate single, double and triple car parking spaces. The steel supports and framework for these carports are all hot-dip galvanised and finished with a powder coating. This complex also required the integration of 250 metres of stair balustrade and 250 metres of internal wall rail throughout the apartment blocks.
To aid the installation process, our multi-skilled engineers utilised both cranes and cherry pickers to manoeuvre and mount each of the external elements.
All the structural and architectural steelwork elements were designed, detailed and fabricated by our expert in-house engineering teams at our manufacturing headquarters in Braintree, Essex.
Well done to all parties involved in delivering another successful project.
