Trainee Project Manager

Department: Structural & Architectural

Main Location: Braintree

Reports to: Structural & Architectural Director

Direct Reports: None

The Main Purpose of the Job:

To implement and oversee Structural & Architectural steelwork projects within the construction sector.

Duties Include:

  • To run and implement Contracts with guidance
  • To attend pre-start meetings with guidance
  • To undertake all logistics of projects
  • To identify and deal with potential risks throughout the project
  • To organise and oversee the design and detailing process
  • To organise and oversee all processes through manufacture
  • To oversee onsite works within projects including H & S document production
  • To monitor budgets to ensure all legitimate contract costs are recovered
  • To maximise efficiency and to keep within project costs
  • To maintain good relations with customers at all times
  • To deliver projects to the timescales demanded by the customer
  • To undertake contract reviews
  • Other duties appropriate to the level of this role

Qualifications:

  • Proven technical and project management skills an advantage but not essential
  • An understanding of construction contracts and terms
  • Previous CAD experience would be an advantage but not essential
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • To be able to stick to deadlines
  • To have 3 years’ experience within the construction industry
  • To be computer literate and able to use software packages such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Full driving licence

In addition to these responsibilities the role includes the provision of administrative functions including arranging site access, raising PO’s and invoices, issuing completed work and maintaining electronic records.
